Writing can be an isolated and
lonely practice. That's why it's important, even life-saving for writers to support
each other in their efforts. I hope the information on this page can serve as
a source for inspiration and advice for anyone who is working hard to put words
on the page. The
Birth House Take
a behind the scenes look at my debut novel... The inspiration behind the book,
an interactive scrapbook, reading group guide, Hysteria Quiz and more. The
Query Process Wondering what I should do with my manuscript, I called
in to a radio phone-in program that happened to be discussing "how to get
published". Once I got through, I shyly asked, "Do you think there's
any chance of a first time novelist getting a literary agent?" The experts

noted that writing your own version of an Ellie Poem can be a wonderful writing
exercise. Since then, I've received many emails from writers, students and especially
teachers who are searching for a copy of the poem. I wish I could point them to
an official version of it, but I haven't been able to locate one. For now, I will
post the version I have on it's own page along with my article, but please keep
in mind that it is to be used for educational purposes only. (If you have any
additional information about Eleanor Wait or her poem, please
let me know.)
Fortune Cookie
Writing Tips I'm crazy for fortune cookie fortunes and find that they
can also serve as the inspiration for writing exercises. They are fast, fun, and
often insightful. (and you get to eat the cookie with your afternoon tea) one
day I hope to have enough to write an entire book based on them, but here are
a few that I've come up with so far
